The flow direction of a polyline is easily visualized by choosing an appropriate line symbol from the gallery.

You can of cause create your own symbols but if you need to quickly display flow direction then the instructions on this page will help you.



  1. Open the symbology panel for your river network by clicking on the Symbology button under the Feature Layer tab.
  1. Click on the symbol
  1. Click on Gallery tab, type the word arrow into the search box then choose your preferred symbol. You can optionally change colour and size under Properties tab.
