Purchase pagePlease read all of this page before continuing - understand before you buy! Value for moneyRivEX can be purchased for only £30 (Approximately $60 / €40). This low price has been achieved by not using expensive web site services or releasing RivEX as an installable GIS extension. So before you buy please read the following section to understand what you get, especially this. At concept stage it was decided that RivEX should be designed and sold for the lowest possible price. This means that it is well within the budget of a student, academic or professional and encourages uptake of the tool. Once purchased all future upgrades are free! What is not included? To keep costs as low as possible, RivEX is sold and delivered via the internet. So no hardcopy of the manual or installation disc are provided. Printing and posting is expensive, it is environmentally unfriendly and the cost would ultimately be passed on to you the purchaser. What do you get?You will be emailed a compressed file containing an ArcGIS 9.1 document (mxd file) and license file. Follow some simple instructions to create 2 directories on your C:\ drive and then extract the mxd and license file to it. RivEX will be "locked" to your operating system. The license file ensures that you are not allowed to run RivEX on more than one machine. If you wish to have RivEX running on more than one computer you must purchase extra copies. RivEX was designed to run in ArcGIS 9 under Microsoft Windows 2000/XP. If you are running ArcGIS 8.x or less the mxd file will not run on your version of software, you need to upgrade! RivEX is not compatible with ArcView 3.x. Before you continue, click here to see the system requirements of RivEX. If you are concerned about compatibility you can download a demonstration version. This will confirm that your system setup is compatible with RivEX and RivEX+ CompatibilityWhilst RivEX is developed in ArcGIS 9.1 on a Windows XP operating system it is successfully used by other clients using 9.2, 9.3 & 9.3.1 on Windows XP and VISTA. Some clients have found that RivEX does not function correctly in ArcGIS 10 on Windows 7, others have got it to work. Microsoft are releasing security updates that are disabling components of VBA and VB6. This is beyond the control of the Author. If you are concerned about compatibility you can download a demonstration version. This will confirm that your system setup is compatible with RivEX and RivEX+.
What is the difference between RivEX and RivEX+?RivEX and RivEX+ exist with the same ArcGIS mxd document. RivEX is the core processing tool which can quality control, attribute and analyse your river network. If you buy RivEX but realise you need the tools that RivEX+ offers, you must purchase an upgrade license (£20). RivEX+ extends the functionality of RivEX by providing tools for generating randomly distributed points along your river network and is therefore tightly integrated with RivEX. The online manual includes instructions for both tools. Purchasing RivEX+ includes all the functionality of RivEX. Click here to see the differences between the versions. Why is RivEX not an extension to ArcMap?RivEX was not developed into an extension or DLL simply because this requires the enterprise edition of Visual Basics. Such development software is expensive and the cost would ultimately be passed onto you the purchaser. As RivEX is a specialist tool the cost and effort of creating an extension outweigh the need for it to be an extension! How do you buy RivEX?The RivEX website is fairly simple and uses PayPal for a secure credit card transaction. RivEX never sees or stores your credit card details. You do not need an account with PayPal to purchase RivEX. For more information on PayPal please visit their website at www.paypal.com. When I get the automatic email from this website with your registration details and an email from PayPal informing me of a successful credit card transaction I will construct the license file and email this with the tool to you. If someone else is purchasing the software on your behalf please check the appropriate box in step 4 on the registration page and enter their name and email address. This information is used only to link your registration details from the RivEX website with the purchase details in my PayPal account. Failing to do this may result in delay of delivery. Due to the low price this tool sells for and the charges that PayPal levy on me for you to be able to purchase with a credit card it is not viable to give a refund. I would only be able to return money via PayPal and you should be aware that PayPal charges you if you withdraw money from your pay pal account and the value is less than £50 which the RivEX tool is! Remember once purchased all future upgrades are free! What do you need to do to purchase RivEX?As part of the purchase procedure you must provide your Microsoft Windows registration number. This gets encoded into the license file and locks RivEX to that Operating System. Once you have completed this, follow the link to PayPal.com to complete your purchase. You will be emailed RivEX usually within 24 hours. If RivEX was purchased during the weekend it may not be emailed to you until the beginning of the working week. Please be patient if this is the case. Click here to see how to identify your Microsoft Windows registration number. Panic! The Pay Pal website is not working correctly! If Pay Pal is reporting a session expired error or returning you back to the RivEX site when you attempt to complete the credit card transaction the cookie that their website creates is not being saved on your computer. This could be caused by your firewall software removing cookies too soon or security settings set too high on your internet browser for the website to function correctly. What ever browser you are using, ensure cookies are enabled. For MS Internet Explorer 6 enable the cookies by following the below instructions:
You could try adding the paypal site to your trusted list or lowing the security settings just for the period of using the pay pal website and then raising them again immediately after. To lower security settings in MS Internet Explorer follow the below instructions:
Panic! Your email system rejected the attachmentRivEX is now supplied in a compressed (zip) file. It is provided in this format so the tool can be emailed directly to you. It was originally supplied as a self installing application but most email systems are set to destroy attachments that are executable! Many email systems are now set to remove attachments as they could potentially be a virus. This does mean legitimate software such as RivEX can get wiped out! If this happens there are several alternative ways to get the software to you. Please be aware that differences between our time zones (I live in the UK) may mean I will not find about this problem for several hours. Just send me an email (I may automatically get one from your email system). Please don't panic, I am aware of the problem! Ready to purchase RivEX or RivEX+? Click Here! |
