The RivEX interface
- When you open the RivEX Tool a new toolbar will be visible with three buttons; the first starts RivEX the second starts RivEX+ and third opens the online manual.
- If the tool bar is not visible then go to View > Toolbars > RivEX Tool Bar and enable it.
- If no layers are in the map then the button disables itself until layers are added. The button will only enable itself if there is at least one polyline layer in the map.

- The toolbar help button (
) is always available.
- Clicking on the enabled RivEX button will initiate the main dialog box which you interact with. It will open in a collapsed state (shown below) and will expand only when the appropriate fields have been selected and you have pressed the Build button.

- You can open the RivEX dialog by using the hot key sequence ALT + X.
- All controls on the main form will show tool tips when you leave your cursor over them.
- Some controls will display a message box informing you some prior step must have been completed for the task to function correctly. These are simply to remind you that they must be done first.
- On each help panel of the RivEX interface is a small blue 'i' icon. Click on this to be directed to the appropriate page of the online manual. Help is context sensitive in that if you have moved your cursor over a particular option and the image changed in the help panel then you will be directed to the specific task.
