File Structure, naming convention & location

• RivEX uses a constant file location for any output.  If you generate any node layers or some of your network fails a quality control then data is written to this directory.  You cannot control this output location.

• The directory output location is C:\RivEX\Output.

• The RivEX Tool.mxd document and its associated files do not have to be in this location but for consistence it is recommended you place them in C:\RivEX during installation.

• If you choose to create nodes, pseudo nodes, sources or mouths from your network then the new shapefiles will end with an appropriate suffix.  For example, if your river network is called myrivers  then the new point shapefiles will be called myrivers_node.shp, myrivers_pseudo_nodes.shp, myrivers_source.shp and myrivers_mouth.shp.

• If you create a new river network without pseudo nodes the shapefile will end with an appropriate suffix.  For example, if your river network is called myrivers  then the new polyline shapefile will be called myrivers_Pseudo_Node_Free.shp.

• The output of a quality control is a dBase file containing two fields; OID and PolylineID.  OID  is the internal numbering field and PolylineID  contains the ID numbers of the failed polylines.  The actual number comes from the field chosen by you from the main interface.  An example of the output of a quality control is shown below.

• Below is a table of file names for polylines which fail the specific quality control. These tables are written to the default directory C:\RivEX\Output.
