How to carrying out quality control
- Quality control is a very simple process. Simply select the river network from the list box (1) and then a field which is the unique ID (2).
- You could use the internal numbering field, this is FID for a Shapefile or OBJECTID for a FeatureClass.
- If your network does not have a field containing unique ID numbers click here to find out how to create this.
- Select the From-node (3) and To-node (4) fields and press build (5) to construct the data dictionaries used by RivEX.

- The RivEX interface will expand to show the rest of the available controls after the data dictionaries have been built.
- Select one or more quality controls and click on Go! RivEX will process them in order.
- Any polylines that fail the quality control have their ID numbers written to their respective dBase files in C:\RivEX\Output.
Below is an image demonstrating the polyline layer Rivers, it's selected ID and node fields and two quality control measures, multi-part and self-intersection. Clicking on Go! will start the quality control process.

The status bar will inform you what's happening and how much has been processed.

- You may be asked to delete any existing quality control dBase files which were the result of a previous analysis.
- If RivEX finds any polylines that fail the quality control process it will ask you at the end of the processing if you wish to load the table into ArcMap. As with all tables, you will need to click on the source tab in the table of contents to see them.
- With all processing, RivEX will complete with an OK box informing you it has finished and closes the RivEX main dialog.
